Pastor Tom Biatek

As pastor of Discovery United Methodist Church, I am a very blessed and fortunate person. The congregation is truly a family in the best sense of the word. I believe that our congregation is following the guidance of Spirit to create a wonderful ministry not only to the western-metro community but also to the world.

Discovery United Methodist is a place where we work hard to follow the example of Jesus Christ to make all people feel welcome and accepted. Sunday worship is energetic and alive, with great music and worship that flows from the heart. We have worked hard to grow our ministries at the church and we are always looking for new ideas to enhance and help our congregation to grow.

By way of introduction, I would like to share that I did my undergraduate studies at University of California, Davis and received my B.A. in philosophy. I received my Masters of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary. I completed my doctorate with Drew University in 2006.

I have been in ministry for almost two decades. I served churches in Iowa (Clarence and then Fayette where I was also a professor at Upper Iowa University) and I have served in Minnesota at Hennepin Ave. UMC (Minister of Youth and Young Adults) and Excelsior UMC (associate pastor).

I am a published author, a fire-eater and a passionate Washington Redskins fan. I love to travel and have spent time in Paris, the U.K. and hiking in the highlands of Scotland (and, at last count, 42 of the United States). I also love biking and try to do 20 miles or so every day (so you might find that I will ride to work and leave the car at home).

I hope that, if you are searching for a church home, you will come and visit our church family. Discovery United Methodist Church is a special place where you will find a warm welcome.
